Past six months being sidelined 'toughest part of my career so far': Beckham

Ahead of his possible Los Angeles Galaxy comeback, midfielder David Beckham has admitted that the past six months have been the toughest of his career.

Beckham has almost recovered from the Achilles tendon injury, which had ended his dream of playing in a fourth World Cup for England.

"Being on the sidelines for six months has been the toughest part of my career so far. Not playing for six months is really tough. It's the first time that's happened to me in my life," The Sun quoted Beckham, as saying.

"Yes, I've had other injuries, but nothing that has kept me out for so long. It's so frustrating when you are injured and you're not involved in the game and you can't do anything."

"But it's made me realize how much I do love the game. That's one of the biggest things that's come out of me being injured - I still love the game and I'm not ready to finish yet," he added.

The 35-year-old also insists that he never thought of retiring from the sport despite the injury.

"My mental attitude is a huge thing. I'm a positive person, I'm always enthusiastic about training and playing. That's helped me personally and hopefully it can help with me going back into the team to give them a lift for the games coming up," Beckham said.

Los Angeles Galaxy has activated Beckham from their disabled list, making him eligible for the club's Major League Soccer (MLS) home match against Columbus on Saturday. (ANI)
